Visual Art Library

Ms. Seitz, Art Teacher at Schwenksville Elementary School, was looking for a way to expose students to literature in the art room through a Visual Art Library. She came to the Foundation to get additional books to her limited collection to enhance her lessons by giving students another way of seeing art. These books would include various ways to illustrate. Whether it’s watercolor, cut paper, pen, ink, or painting, the books would expose students to different ways to create art. In addition, Ms. Seitz wanted to expose her students to the love of reading and books.

Perkiomen Valley School District Foundation answered the call and helped Ms. Seitz order 23 books for her reimagined “Inspiration Book Nook.” When her books came in, Executive Director Kristin Craven was thrilled to present her Kindergarten class with the books and even read a book to them – Mix It Up by Hervé Tullet! The students were so excited to see all the new books and couldn’t wait for the opportunity to get their hands on them.

Some books in the library include Colors Versus Shapes by Mike Boldt; The Pencil by Allen Ahlberg; Pocket Full of Colors by Amy Guglielmo; The Crayon Man by Natascha Biebow; I Feel Teal by Lauren Rille; Claymates by Dev Petty; Inkblot, Drip, Splat and Squish your way to creativity by Margaret Peot; Too Much Glue by Jason Lefebvre; and Look! Look! Look!  at Sculpture by Elizabeth Wallace.
