Book Vending Machine

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙖 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙑𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚? It’s exactly what it sounds like – a vending machine that dispenses books! Students can earn golden tokens as rewards for positive behavior, school achievements, or celebrations. Gold tokens are exchanged for books that students get to keep.

What started out as a dream is now a reality. The Foundation and South Elementary thought of the idea to pilot a Book Vending Machine to increase excitement for books and literacy. After a Giving Tuesday campaign supported by the community and South Home and School Association, the designing of the Book Vending Machine started. The Book Vending Machine is now here, and the students absolutely love it. Students have been receiving books, and the excitement of who will be next is palpable in the school.

Teachers don’t always have access to materials, technology, and other resources that can make the difference between a lesson that is forgotten the next day and one that lasts beyond graduation.
